All Roads Lead To Rome: A Rome Road Trip and Itinerary

Rome is one of the ?must see? destinations of the world. Its mixture of amazing cuisine and perfectly preserved ancient history, is a traveller?s dream. Most tourists head straight to Rome and never venture out of the city itself. There is so much to see and do nearby and many miss out on the culture in the surrounding areas.
To help you make sure you see the true Italy, as well as the usual destinations, European car rental experts Autoclick, have put together this full, 10 day itinerary, especially for your Rome road trip. Discover the natural beauty of Italy?s lakes and mountain ranges. Explore some of the forgotten villages that surround the city of Rome, and taste the best dishes Italian cuisine has to offer.
Your 10 Day Rome Road Trip

Day 1: Land at Leonardo Da Vinci airport and pick up your car rental. Set off to your first destination of Lake Bracciano, where you can check into your first hotel of the trip.
Once you?re all settled, take a walk around the picturesque lake and explore the nearby towns. The Chalet del Lago is the perfect place to grab some food after a long day travelling, and offers stunning views of the lake.

Day 2: Spend the day exploring the nearby towns or head off on one of the many adventure tours on offer. The Castello Odescalchi di Bracciano is an amazing 15th century castle, perfectly restored and offering amazing views of the town.
Day 3: Hop in your rental car and make your way to your next destination, Calcata. Once you find your way, check into your accommodation and set off to explore for the rest of the day. Take a wander to the Valle del Treja, the perfect place to get back in touch with nature and discover some stunning waterfalls, parks and rolling hills.

Day 4: Set off from Calcata to Corvaro. Here, check into one of the many hotels available and take the time to relax and enjoy Corvaro.
Drive time: 1hr 35 minutes
Hotel suggestions: Hotel Cristall or Grand Hotel delle Rocche
Day 5: Head to Lago della Duchessa to spend the day hiking through the mountainous landscape, and admiring the many lakes. Take a packed lunch and truly appreciate the Italian countryside.
Once you?ve fully explored the Lago della Duchessa, head back to Corvaro to experience the laid back nightlife and traditional food.
Drive time: 17 minutes each way
Day 6: Pack up your things and set off for your next destination, Genzano di Roma. This small town and commune is situated in the Alban Hills and overlooks the lake of Nemi. Here you can see some of the many cathedrals, churches and gardens that make up the historical town.
If you find yourself in Genzano di Roma during June, you may be lucky enou...
